"Mavericky"

I was going to pull this piece together around the premise that if the McCain-Palin ticket wins I'd move to Canada. Then I thought, I'm totally NOT moving to Canada or any other country for that matter, so I need to find a way to make this work.

I'm waiting for my magic hilarious quote to come for this illustration, but it's not happening. I tried layering "their" quotes in the background, but they were too boring and long winded to be poignant.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm not good at going negative (ha) or if I am so disturbed by all of McPalin's attacks on MY candidate. SO I'm open to ideas. This illo is not finished yet, so friends - Email me some ideas.

Show me the funny.

Excuse the mess!

I really did like my "Sleepy-Time-Faux-VanGogh" banner type thing, but it really didn't make much sense for my blog other than I liked it and thought it was pretty. I did that in '99 or 2000 (the banner not the blog). So I thought it was time for a complete revamp featuring amorphous lava-lamp like blots with ponies in them, a superhero me, and still some van-gogh-ey waves to satisfy my inner impressionist.

Bear with me until I get these colors and fonts like I want them. Web endeavors are not for the impatient. :)

Yes, I CAN!

Some of the "home-made" artwork coming out of the Obama-campaign is simply fantastic.
I couldn't resist throwing my own stuff into the pile. I hadn't even heard of the term agit-prop art (art to agitate the masses) until this campaign. It's genius to enlist an army of disillusioned and broke graphic fartists.

IF you're into looking at cool posters and political art, I recommend omgposters.com it's a quick source of inspiration and small images to decorate your cube with.

Stay tuned for the next in the series loosely titled "CANADA".

Jen's Tattoo Party

I got perhaps my funniest "notes" on this illo that I've gotten to date.
1. Add manly hair
2. Increase package
3. "Up-size" Rack
4. Pet-lypo

Who says work can't be fun!

VIRGOS UNITE!!

Attention OEF Readers (but just the ones that actually like me..)
SHAMELESS PROMOTION LIKE MACY GRAY AT THE GRAMMYS!!

I'm celebrating my Birthday with several friends (you may know) at Baxters, this Saturday from 9 to whenever.....

It's casual..think Happy Hour on Saturday. I'd love to see some peeps that haven't came out in awhile. Presence not "presents" is all that I'd like. Buying me or one of the other virgos a shot would be fantastic, but not required.

All zodiac signs are welcome, but extra hugs should be given for those who have August and Sept. Bdays.

Air Hugs!
Lavapony....

Owl Gif

owl-4

In the first of many future attempts to learn Flash better, here's an owl in a beat up old car. I thought he could use a better way to fly/travel.

Ideally (with a little more time), I'd like to have the clouds more smokey, with an explosion and the car breaking down somehow.

Sorta Pancakes..

I say sorta because this Pancakes looks a little mischievous or has been bitten by one of the vampires from 30 Days of Night.

:)

Shorty's evil doppleganger..

Shorty is supposed to be in a clothes basket, but b/c it's late in the day and I'm ready to go home, it's all dark and scribbly.

6.02.2008

Almost a complete series!

Two more dogs..I'm a pancake and a shorty away from a set of 10!

Freelance goes wrong..

when the ideas of the proprietor do not match the ideas of the architect.

Overwhelmed..

Since there's some things you really shouldn't commit to print especially when it involves the bread and butter aspects of your life - say it with pictures.

Animals!

Here's some more special requested artwork.
These aren't finished yet (they need color) for that special cute factor.

the sunday after next

More Next Sunday sketching.
Oh crystal ball, please help me finish this eternal infernal drawing.

Doggies!

More Chrimmas pictures I worked on for friends. :)

Next Sunday?

I'm working on a book cover for a former co-worker of mine about a couple from the 1950's. This cover didn't make the cut because they look too "Abercrombie" and not very "Grease". I like it on it's own as a drawing so I thought I'd post it.
:)

Sunny & Paul

I did this as a Xmas present for my friend Sunny who so graciously hooked me up with Tori Amos tix and NoVA room and board despite my treacherous D.C. driving ability and Typhoid Mary - like sinus infection.

In the coming months you'll be seeing alot of these types of deals. Trying to get back into hypermedia type stuff again.
Wish me luck.

CM's Doggie -

No excuses for poor site upkeep. Just busy busy. :)

Lavaponyland Commissions

Thank goodness this isn't a news column - Right?
I've done a woeful job of updating my own art blog. It's my noncommittal nature to anything I suppose. At any rate, I'm working on commissions. I'm actually trying to draw a 50's style couple standing by a creek. That's all the description I got, so I'm gonna do it my way like Burger King. A few months and software ahead I wanna make this a website with a blog, versus say just this blog. I work in trade for most jobs, so if you have some music, an adventure trade *friends* only (i.e. field trip) I can probably draw something for you.

It's my goal by the end of September to have some old school family portraits - pics of my grand-dad and grandmother back when the dinosaurs walked.

Soo in the meantime, here's the tentative OEF logo I built - It won't make it to the final draft due to fashion inconsistencies, but after that's resolved -- Keep your eyes peeled.

4.25.2007

So, one of my room-mates was in a bad car accident. That luckily was not as bad as it could have been - (which subsequently took away all 3 of my room-mates).

So here's my little get well card.

Leslie's Angels

There's been a rampant crime spree on the streets of Clifton Forge these days. (And no, I don't mean a runaway cow.)
So who do you call, The Angels of course.

Old Territory

I try not to retread places I've already been before with my sketches, but I was called out on my comic nerd-dom the other day and thought I'd pull out my favorite comics..(the X-Men) which feature my favorite character Gambit. Say what you will about him, but I always thought a card throwing, bow staff wielding, trench coat wearing hero was the coolest thing since Wonderbread. I'm still mad he wasn't in the movie, Toad - but no Gambit? Come on!!

I don't read them much now as they appeal to much younger age demographic and reality has set in, but every once in awhile I go back. After all, comics led me to graphic design and the entire art world in the first place.

A Reyes Reinterpretation

I've reinterpreting alot of other people's family pictures lately (for fun, for modest commissions, or for presents.) I must say it's alot of fun just hearing the story's behind the pictures and making my own while I drawn them. Since I got this one off of a photograph, I misinterpreted what was supposed to be a clutch bag as a piece of someone's pants. Turns out the person in question was not wearing silk creme colored pants as I thought (thank goodness) but wearing black trousers. S. assures me that said person keeps up with fashion trends. )And was not wearing silky pants.)

Merry X-Mas..

Decided to give some framed artwork this year for Christmas presents. It worked out alot better than an anticipated.
Thought I'd share it with you peeps.
Happy (belated) Holidays..!

7:00's

This is my homage to Zach Braff. I've been watching alot of Scrubs right after work lately. Funny, funny show.

12.01.2006

Deftones

I went to a Deftones Concert this past Weds.... and it was awesome. In the 90's I used to draw all my fav rock groups So I figured to commemorate 96 and an awesome show...I'd draw and add some lyrics. Huzzah!

11.29.2006

Mars Volta

I guess I should start drawing pictures of groups I actually listen to on a regular. Oh well, the Televators video was dope.

Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving isn't always about Turkey. Mine this year really wasn't. Sometimes I just don't feel like writing out everything. A pictures is worth a thousand headaches.

Corpse Autumn

Autumn loves Corpse Bride and hates Sun Tans.

Tuxedo Un-Masked??

One of my friends loves Sailor Moon, and since he didn't make the Sailor Scouts team I figured he could assist Tuxedo Mask.

7.27.2006

Style change up

Sometimes I like to just play with the brushes and markers in photoshop and see where it takes me. No real goal here except to get some ideas out of head and onto paper. Which can really be a challenge considering all the different thoughts floating around in head at any given moment.
